PFLAG
(Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)
provides encouragement and support to all family members and
LGBT people dealing with issues raised when a loved one comes
out. The Staten Island LGBT Center hosts the monthly meeting of the Staten Island
chapter of PFLAG - NYC. Meetings offer an opportunity for
attendees to gather in a safe and friendly place to provide and
receive support, share thoughts and feelings and learn from each
other. PFLAG is an all-volunteer group made up of
parents, family and friends of someone who is lesbian, gay,
bisexual or transgender. Other members of the LGBT community are
welcome to join.

Rainbow Families
is a group for
lesbian and gay parents, their
children and allies. This monthly group, co-sponsored
by the Staten Island LGBT Center and the Staten Island Children’s Museum, provides a
setting where children of LGBT parents (infants through teens)
come together for fun, socialization and support with peers in a
way that strengthens and affirms their family structure. In
addition to the social benefit for the children, the Rainbow
Families group provides the opportunity for the parents to sit
down and discuss issues unique to LGBT parenting. [ Third
Sunday of each month at the Staten Island Children's
Museum, Snug Harbor, from 10 AM to Noon. ] For

Narcotics Anonymous at the SI LGBT Center is a Narcotics Anonymous (N/A) meeting for the LGBT community and friends of the LGBT community. Meeting attendees gather in a safe and friendly place to share their experience, strength and hope with each other, and provide mutual support in an environment where LGBT sexual orientations are welcomed into the recovery process. These open meetings take place on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM.
The TransLife Empowerment Meeting is a community-building event for adults (18+) who identify as transgender or gender non-conforming and their allies. This weekly support/empowerment group addresses issues of concern and programming / service needs specific to the transgender/ gender non-conforming community. Meeting attendees have the opportunity to gather in a safe and friendly place to provide and receive support, share thoughts and feelings and learn from each other. Discussions focus on issues relevant to the Trans experience on topics such as: identifying as Trans and coming and living out in Staten Island; personal health and safety; hormone therapy; transphobia within the community; family support and acceptance; legislative protections for the community and politics; relationships; accessing LGBT services; and social activities. Thursdays at 6:30 PM.
NEW STARTING JUNE 3rd: Rainbow & Friends - A special interest Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Open Discussion meeting for the LGBT community and friends of the LGBT community. Weekly, Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 PM.
The LGBT Mature Adults Group is a discussion group for baby boomers and beyond! Meeting attendees gather in a safe and friendly place to share their experiences, stories and ideas with each other, and raise issues about needed services and programming for their peer group. Conversations are had about coming out and living out on Staten Island, dating in the burbs, developing new relationships, making new friends and keeping the old ones, socializing in our home community, coping with relationship break-ups, loss and bereavement issues and more.
